The four new sets are Pirate Ambush Ship, Battle at the Black Gate, The Council of Elrond and The Wizard Battle. All these sets are based on scenes in the Lord of the Rings movies.
As with all the LEGO Lord of the Rings Character sets, the thing that makes them exceptional is the addition of certain characters. It was Gandalf who in his "The Wizard Battle" costume that catches your attention.
Whether it's reliving the battle with Saruman, marveling at the valued ring or opening the Black Gate's lockable door there are lots to keep the children amused.
LEGO has been releasing new sets at a rapid pace this year and this summer looks like it will be filled with new things. On 1st June 2013 LEGO released a new set of Lord of the Rings kits, with different price ranges. The new sets will consist of characters that LEGO fans have been eager for since the original release of LEGO Lord of the Rings Character sets first appeared in shops.
Wizard Battle, the smallest of the new sets includes Gandalf and his wizard nemesis, Saruman, together with a little playset that includes a spinning Palantir with the Eye of Sauron inside. The playset includes a modest assortment of black brick but the most fascinating items are most likely the big floor lamps that flank the wizard's throne.
The Council of Elrond, full with difficult to find bits and new pieces. This middle range set is probable going to appeal to the fans for its parts, while Tolkien fans will be happy to acquire Elrond and Arwen for their character collections. Arwen is the first female LOTR character to appear in a LEGO set, although one set from The Hobbit range already included a female elf.
Battle at the Black Gate, this set comprises of five minifigures. The most unique being the Mouth of Sauron and Gandalf also appears in a new white costume. While the set contains a good variety of black pieces for builders, the most thrilling part is undeniably the huge eagle. This is the cheapest set that will include the eagle, so the fanatical fans might want to stock up in order to remake bigger scale scenes from the story.
Pirate Ship Ambush, the biggest of the new sets is this pirate ship, which includes nine minifigures, as well as the king of the Army of the Dead and two of his soldiers. The pirate of Umbar figure is a delight for movie fans because it is really Peter Jackson in his cameo role. The large ship comes with plenty of details that will please adult collectors and the Army of the Dead characters also glows in the dark.
